Cleaning the grating, drain unit and optional strainer
Lift the grating and remove the strainer from the drain unit. Clean all three parts using a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush lathered with mild, nonabrasive soap and lukewarm water. Do not use steel wool. Gently polish the grating and drain in the same direction as the brushed grain. The grating can also be treated for lime deposits using ordinary descaling agents intended for household use: Allow the product to work for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly using clean water.
Cleaning the HighLine grating in Corian®
Most spots or stains on a Corian® grating can be removed very easily using just a soft cloth, liquid soap and clean water. For more difficult spots and stains, remove with a small amount of liquid scouring cleanser on a cloth. Rub carefully in a light circular motion and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Clean stainless steel regularly
Stainless steel is highly durable and corrosion-resistant if it is cleaned on a regular basis. The surface is covered in a thin protective layer of chromium oxide, which is created when the stainless steel reacts with oxygen in the air and water. Corrosion can occur if this protective layer is damaged, for example by impurities present in the steel itself. Strong acids or chemicals such as iodine, chlorine, fluorine, or bromine can also cause corrosion to stainless steel by hindering the oxygen reaction process, thus preventing formation of the protective layer.
Cleaning the water trap when water drains too slowly or when drain is clogged
Take hold of the catch in the middle of the water trap using a finger or a tool. At the same time, pull the catch and push one side of the water trap, then pull up the water trap by the other side.
Disassemble the top and bottom components of the water trap. Rinse them in warm water and a little mild, nonabrasive soap if desired. To remove lime deposits on the water trap and strainer, use a liquid scouring cleanser and a coarse nylon scouring pad.
Reassemble the top and bottom components. The water trap has been correctly reassembled when the two components have ‘clicked’ into place. There should be a distance of approx. 1 fingerbreadth between the top and bottom components to allow water to drain. Lubricate the gasket with a little soapy water or mild, nonabrasive soap.
Push the water trap back into the floor drain. Ensure that it is level with the floor. The water trap has been correctly reassembled and is in position when water flows freely through the system.
Signs that your water trap has not been correctly assembled or is not in position
- Water does not flow freely through the system.
Solution: The top component has been pressed down too hard. Remove the water trap and check that the top and bottom components have been correctly assembled with a distance of approx. 1 fingerbreadth between them.
- An unpleasant odour is emanating from the drain.
Solution: The water trap is not in the correct position or is not level with the floor. Remove the water trap and push it back into the correct position.
