For the third time this year, Unidrain from Denmark has won international recognition for its latest creation, the MatLine integrated doormat and drain system.
The renowned independent design council from Germany awarded a ‘special mention’ to Unidrain. The German design council covers a number of industry icons including Porsche, BMW and Bosch and presents the annual German Design Award to the most successful designs in a whole series of categories.
“The doormat is a very practical system which welcomes visitors in an aesthetically pleasing way.” This was the jury’s reason for awarding a special mention to MatLine.
Unidrain is happy that MatLine has attracted the attention of the design council, whose evaluation committee is made up of prominent figures from the world of architecture and design.
“MatLine takes Unidrain out of the bathroom and into perhaps the most representative room in the home, the entrance hall. This is where we welcome our visitors and give them their first impression of our home. We are happy that our idea for MatLine has once more been recognised by experts in the field,” says Unidrain’s design and product manager Kenneth Waaben.
This innovative invention previously won a prize for product design from If World Design Guide, and also received a special mention at the Red Dot Design Award ceremony.
MatLine is designed in the same minimalist style as Unidrain’s other prize-winning products. Under the mat is a drain which collects the water while tough nylon brushes clean the dirt off the soles of the feet. The result is fewer dirty footprints in the entrance hall and rest of the house.
