a waterproof, wall-mounted drain requires a wall flange?
A wall flange is a vertical edge on the drain unit which is fixed to the wall. The construction gives security.
(13) Edge reinforcement/sealing
(Wooden floor construction with plywood, floor filling compound and stone/tiles)

Edge reinforcement/sealing is carried out on all transitions between floor/wall flanges and wall/floor surfaces with minimum 30 mm overlap over the flanges.

(For more detailed instructions about fitting edge reinforcement/sealing, reference is made to the supplier's instructions).

NB:
Be careful that the reinforcing goes all the way out into the corners where the flanges meet.
