Revolutionary drain for large bathrooms
Now you can lay elegant floor drains right along the wall, over a length of several metres. Unidrain is extending its range with modular line drains which are ideal for larger shower installations, such as in schools, swimming pools and sports centres.
Unidrain was the first company to move the floor drain to the wall, and now its drains can also be used in larger bathroom areas, with a new modular series that allows the drain grating to be placed along the wall for as far as you need. This opens up new possibilities in the design and construction of larger bathing facilities.
"Unidrain has set a new standard in floor drains by moving them right in to the wall. The new modules are especially useful for all larger bathrooms," says Jane Sharp of Advanced Wetrooms, the company that distributes Unidrain in the United Kingdom.
The Unidrain system is called module system 1100, and consists of four components, all made of stainless steel. The length can be varied to match the individual solution, as the modular system is not dependent on fixed measurements. If necessary, components can be supplied to allow the drain to follow the corners of the shower room.

Drain positioned against the wall
Unidrain drains are located directly against the wall. The result is a beautiful bathroom floor, because it can be installed without craftsmen needing to cut up the tiles. When the floor is being laid, a fall only needs to built on one side, along the wall – in contrast to traditional floor drains, which require a fall on four sides.
"Unidrain is better and easier to build with. The bigger the bathroom, the more time and trouble you save during the construction phase," says Jane Sharp.
The secret behind Unidrain is the vertical wall outlet in the floor units. When the drain is being installed, the wall outlet is screwed onto the wall; the wall grating holds the drain firmly, and produces a watertight overlap against the wall surface.
Beautiful solutions
Allowing the drain to run along the wall is a striking innovation which conveys advantages for both the end-users and the installers.
"Who would have thought that this decade's most significant innovation in bathroom design would be the drain? I didn't believe it, until I saw it for myself," says Jane Sharp.
Unidrain was developed and patented in 2002 by the architect Claus Dyre. Since then, the revolutionary drains have quickly become popular in several countries. Sales have so far exceeded 150,000 drains. No manufacturer has more experience with line drains than Unidrain.
