The 42 luxury apartments and penthouses in the Ashbury Brook development lead the way in modern international construction standards: the bathrooms are tiled, and the shower cubicles, equipped with Unidrain, are flush with the floor.
The Ashbury Brook development, situated in leafy Mossley Hill, Liverpool, is one of the first construction projects in the UK to be equipped with Unidrain. The 42 apartments and penthouses are now under construction and will be completed in Spring 2008.
A perfect match
The apartments overlook Liverpool’s exquisite Sefton Park and are finished to the highest specification, ranging is size from 90m2 to 270m2. Every bedroom in the development has its own private en-suite bathroom ranging from 5m2 to 14m2. The developer Ashbury Homes, wanted achieve a stylish and contemporary finish. They specified Unidrain to complement the fully tiled bathroom floors and walls to create elegant self-contained wet rooms.

International trend
The trend internationally, and particularly in the UK, is away from installing shower cabinets and bathtubs in bathrooms with wooden floors, carpets, etc. Instead, the taste of the more quality-conscious consumers is for open bathrooms with tiles and a flat floor.
Richard Carmichael of Ashbury Homes says that he is very please to be using Unidrain in the development:
”As soon as we saw the Unidrain single-level solution we had no doubt that Unidrain would suit our apartments perfectly. They would be easy to install, guarantee performance and provide the high quality, stylish finish we desired. The Danish floor drain design matched our criteria of excellent design, ease of installation and guaranteed performance all with cost savings”.

Flush with the tiles
The advantage of a single-level floor, as in Ashbury Brook, is that there are no level differences in the bathroom. Combined with the choice of Unidrain – located along the wall – it is possible to create a correct fall in the floor irrespective of the size of the tiles. The shower cubicle is thereby on the same level as the rest of the room, and you can walk straight into it. This means that residents do not need to step up into a bathtub or an installed shower cabinet, which makes it easier and safer to take a shower, especially for elderly people or families with children. Busy city dwellers can enjoy a quick shower in the morning, or give themselves a well-deserved touch of luxury at the end of the working day.
Unidrain will be following the progress of the Ashbury Brook development, and we will bring more news when construction is completed. You can also keep up with developments at www.ashburyhomes.co.uk
