A decadent fusion of styles

Singer Mads Langer and his wife Julie Lillelund have designed their dream bathroom. And it’s a rock-star bathroom that few people would even dare to dream of! It is the epitome of bohemian and avant-garde – eclectic and decadent. It’s luxurious, it’s maximalism, it’s fashion, it’s as much great-grandma as it is Vogue – but first and foremost it is well-curated and utterly unique. Take a look at this exciting, bold statement of a bathroom, in which Unidrain plays a leading role.

Mads Langer and Julie Lillelund moved into their new – old – house three years ago. They knew they wanted a (very) large bathroom, so they converted a bedroom on the first floor into what is now their bathroom. And it is an unusual one, with a large blue freestanding bathtub, lavender-coloured floor tiles, an imposing chandelier and a pink sofa, floral wallpaper and matching curtains, as well as a lot of beautiful vintage finds and well-executed brass detailing.

This bathroom is by no means tucked away in a corner of the house. It certainly has the coolness factor combined with attitude, audacity and lots of star quality – but it is also romantic, poetic and soulful without being too cute.

The couple handpicked all aspects of the interior design. Their passion for vintage design and their choice of products reveals their sureness of style and great talent for mixing and matching. Colours and shapes are complementary, and the couple are certainly unafraid to challenge norms and the Scandinavian aesthetics. There’s something of Victorian nobility and French rococo about it – but the style defies decoding. It’s all their own! One thing is certain, however: all your senses are awakened when you enter this bathroom.

One detail as a finishing touch is the exclusive brass elements by Unidrain, including the custom-made drain that spans two showers in length, the frame and panel for the shower screen, as well as the toilet roll holder and toilet brush from the Reframe range. All of this helps to create visual balance and continuity in dialogue with the other brass items in the bathroom.

It’s a family-sized deluxe shower zone … expect lots of singing in the bath!

Many people – like Mads Langer and Julie Lillelund – have very specific interior design ideas, and it is often difficult to make it all work using standard solutions. Family-sized solutions with extra-long drains are especially popular. These bespoke drains are produced to order, with two drains combined to form one unit. You are then free to select any of Unidrain’s grating or panel designs.
