‘In Sønderborg, Danish chef and Masterchef judge Jesper Koch and his family have moved into a unique, bespoke home.
The newly constructed dream home is surrounded by beach and forest, and the scenic surroundings resonate inside the house as well, which is full of quality materials and exciting solutions – not least the elegant Unidrain products that give the bathroom a nice brass-coloured glow.
Nature takes root in the home
Interior designer Kira Staugaard, owner of Kira Design, who has helped the family create a unified style and atmosphere in the house, says:
“It was important to incorporate nature into the home, which is why the surrounding landscape has been invited inside with materials such as marble, brass, linoleum and lots of wood. With its warm tones, the wood features throughout the house, the kitchen boasts a beautiful green marble countertop, and the brass details in the bathroom really catch the eye.”
Brass details add an extra flourish in the bathroom
The kitchen may be the heart of this chef’s home, but there are also lovely details in the bathroom, where each item has been carefully selected. Here, the ambition was that the installations should not only be functional, but also blend with and enhance the house’s overall style:
“In the bathroom, the brass elements create a lovely contrast to the muted colour scheme. The golden tones are also present in the linear drain and the shower shelves by Unidrain and in the luminaires by Dornbracht. In this way, the indispensable installations blend in nicely and add to the elegance. When you step into the bathroom, you enter a quiet environment that calms the mind and is enriched with exclusive details,” says Kira Staugaard.
The bathroom is equipped with several brass-coloured Unidrain elements, including our luxurious HighLine drain, which blends well with the large tiles and creates a contrast without being too showy. In addition, the shower cubicle includes our stylish soap shelf from the Reframe Collection with an accompanying magnetic shower wiper.
Exploring a home with a wow factor
The large, well-equipped kitchen leaves little doubt that the house in Sønderborg is the home of a professional chef and restaurateur. And there are exciting solutions throughout the rest of the home too.
The emphasis has been on creating a wow factor and a unique experience, no matter what room you’re in. And it was important to create a quiet indoor environment for a family with busy lives:
“The home has been designed in a way that is both calming and stimulating. The natural materials and the bright but subdued tones create an atmosphere where there’s room for tranquility and relaxation, which is important for a family with many irons in the fire. At the same time, the home is packed with exciting solutions and bold choices, such as a steam oven and a meat-ageing fridge in the kitchen, hand-built furniture and a built-in wine cooler between the kitchen and dining area,” concludes the interior designer.
